Everyone is Fighting the Cooties
More than anything you guard, protect your mind,
for life flows from it. Proverbs 4:23
Holy cow, so many people I know are sick with the flu or bronchitis. I have listened to their family members talk about the measures they have personally taken to shield themselves from the cootie bugs infiltrating their homes. Some have taken to sleeping in another room, buying stock in Clorox wipes, washing and washing and washing their hands. These are all the things we do to keep these big, bad germs from entering our bodies.
It made me think today about my soul and if I am as vigilant when it comes to protecting it? I certainly have control over the health of my my soul; and yet do I protect it in the same way that I would protect my body if it were under attack? Am I involved with people or do I partake in social interactions that do not keep me spiritually healthy? Do I allow germs from the entertainment industry to pollute my mind, my thinking? Are electronics and social media sucking the life out of me?
Friends, these three questions hit me hard. What am I allowing into my heart that could be considered a spiritual germ, allowing illness into my soul? I want to be healthy in every way! So we reflect this week as we practice on ways that we might combat the germs threatening to infect our own souls with a nasty case of Spiritual Goo.
WE CARE FOR OUR BODIES
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
WE CARE FOR OUR MINDS
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:1-2
WE THINK AND TALK LIKE JESUS
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14
Stand strong against the world, set yourself apart. And come and practice some yoga with us! Nourish your body and soul.
Stay well, my friends!
