Our Inspiration
Then God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. Genesis 1:11-13
Your Plate
Now that you know what your week is gong to bring, grab your grocery list and get going. Beam yourself up for success by shopping the fresh aisles. Of course, there are farmer’s markets in the area that can supply you with lots of wonderful choices. Take advantage of all the local fresh produce available this time of year. I love this visual offered by Monday night Tribe member Jane Key, Registered Dietician with Key Nutrition Consulting,
Two thirds of your plate should grow in the ground. One third can walk or swim!*
Isn’t that a fun way to look at your plate? Heavy on the veggies and top it off with a walker or a swimmer! So shop accordingly. Plan for healthy, fresh snacks between meals. While you are shopping be aware of your weakness. Is it Potato chips? Ice cream? Baked goods? Don’t let yourself even go down those aisles. And check the labels on everything for added sugar and for ingredients that you can’t pronounce. So today, go to the grocery and stock up on what Mother Nature provides from the earth and put a big limit on the man-made items.

God gives us daily strength even in wise eating choices.
Sometimes my challenge is to cooperate with His grace!
I bought everything I need to make a big pot of vegetable soup. It is my safe go-to lunch when the weather cools. And it is truly one of the things that makes me happy about the cooler weather. Love my soup!
Great minds think alike! I defrosted a quart of garden provided tomato soup for 2-3 lunches this week with Parm whisps . There is something about knowing my ingredients are good that helps heal the soul!
So true.
This week is particularly challenging for me while I vacation in Ireland. I had no idea that the Irish eat so much sauce, gravy, fried food, sausages, beef, potatoes and the bread is beyond delightful. I looked at the menus for tonight which has no salad, gravy or cream on everything, and beef galore. The most vegetable I see is smashed peas! I,plan to ask for no cream, gravy and cheese on my meal tonight and hope they have more veggie selections that are missing from the menu. I plan to,do my best here then get back on track at home. Did I tell you about the many beer choices? Oh, my, it is beyond belief. I will be thinking of all of you while I try to stay focused.
You will get the award for the most challenged participant this week! Please enjoy yourself, practice moderation and hit it hard when you return.
I started an herbal cleanse this week, which also calls for clean eating. After these 10 days I plan to join Weight Watchers to give me a guide and some additional accountability. thanks for starting this Sherri!
Forward ho! I hope this weeks gives you the inspiration you need to continue your journey.
As a family of one, cooking without waste can be a challenge for a few reasons in my budget. However, I’ve not eaten out and have packed lunch for work that I’ve eaten that has been home cooked so far! Thank you for the extra nudge!
