Our Inspiration
You satisfy me more than the richest of foods. Psalms 63:5 (NLT)
You made it!
We are all about food this week, but let’s do so honoring the One who gives us more than we need. What is the richest, most amazing dessert you have ever eaten? As you remember the sweetness of that dessert, can you imagine if you felt that same glorious satisfaction with your relationship with Jesus? We can use this journey toward mindfulness as a spiritual re-boot as well, as a way to reconnect with our Creator and experience more satisfaction with our relationship with Jesus. Today, let’s use our desire to snack as an opportunity to pray. Each time you think about food throughout the day turn your heart toward God. Offer thanksgiving, talk about your concerns, sing a verse of a hymn. Offer your hunger as a sacrifice and use the moment to come into God’s presence. Breathe in God’s grace and be still for a few minutes.
Today, we will offer ourselves as a living sacrifice praise. “Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.” Romans 12:1
When we struggle today with our choices, let’s turn to practicing the presence of God.
We are all familiar with the concept of fasting. Try fasting for a few hours and offer it as a prayer. Fast from a particular food today and offer it as a prayer. Get up an move and offer it as a prayer. Here’s a really great idea….come practice yoga with us and breathe, stretch, and pray!
Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you. James 4:8 [Full Chapter]
It would be a stretch to say “I made it” through the food challenge. I was not successful in one daily challenge, except maybe drinking more water. What this did do for me is make me painfully aware of all the things I do need to change regarding when, how, and what I eat. For me, this week was an awareness, so my goal is to complete the challenge next week. Thanks Sherri for all you did for us this week. Your effort will not be in vain.
